Barrister Dr. Konyere Adiele-Uzoma

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

AZU-ERI is headed by a Chief Executive Office, Barrister Dr. Konyere Adiele-Uzoma who has an LLB degree in Law and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1995. Her areas of expertise include debt recovery and legal drafting. She has also done work in eDiscovery and Document Review.

She worked with one of the foremost Law firms of the day, where she adapted to being an intensely skilled and eagle eyed Barrister. Being proactive to avert foreseeable and unforeseeable mishaps that could impact clients briefs is an asset and talent she effortlessly prides herself on.

In the UK, she has held administrative positions in both Case Progression and Case Officer roles in Her Majesty's Courts Services (HMCS) and Her Majesty's Prison Services (HMPS), under the Ministry of Justice.

Her most prominent strength lies in her ability to prioritise and proffer solutions for even the most challenging situations, driving organisational success through effective management and strategic planning.

She is a leader who organises, manages and effectively executes work with such an unparalleled depth, that transcends beyond her internationally certified qualifications in Business Analysis and Project Management.

Besides being a resourceful person, she is a motivational and public speaker whose unparalleled communication expertise has positively shaped opinions on a boundless variety of social issues, ranging from cultural oppression to the violently subtle silencing of women and children. She is also an advocate for men who are culturally shy to admit abuse based on the concept of protecting the significance of masculinity. Her researches are all based on the statistical accuracy of figures. With particular regards to the appalling atrocities committed in conflict zones, she has been able to irrefutably prove that women and children are most disproportionately disadvantaged.

Anchored by versatility, she is concurrently creating studio and public awareness of the much unrecognised mental illness of narcism, a personality disorder that is created by extreme abuse and neglect of a child, by their primary caregivers. Scientifically, it is known as Narcissist Personality Disorder (NPD) due to its profound characteristic of altering the mental stability of its sufferers. Their traumatising toxic upbringing not only negatively alters their personality into multiple fractures of hollowness but their perceived entitlement to inflict untold carnage to those closest in proximity.

As part of her activism, she was solely instrumental in bringing an educational institution, in the UK, to review and scrap an enshrined hair colour rule that discriminated against members of an ethnic race.

She has enhanced her innate skills in leadership by obtaining a CPD and IPHM globally certified diploma in Leadership And Management. She also has a Diploma in Public Speaking Mastery, Business Analysis And Project Management, Digital And IT Skills as well as a Diploma in the Psychology Of Narcism.

A doctorate degree holder in Peace and Conflict Resolution, in the faculty of Law, she has dedicated her impeccable skills through given recommendations in multiple cross-border delivered lectures.

A seasoned writer extraordinaire, Barrister Dr Konyere Adiele-Uzoma, has continued to positively shape opinions and attitudes towards sensitive social injustice issues that are generally relegated based on a fear of negative public perception or reception. Through a most distinct seasoned style of writing and semi-comic simplistic expressions, she has been able to respectfully cut across and share her views amongst both the elitists and "not so elitists" in society.

A multi-faceted linguist, she is currently pursuing a diploma in the French language to revive her existing knowledge and interest in spoken French.

She is a fellow at both the Institute for Humanitarian Services And Social Development, and the Institute For Crisis Resolution Peacebuilding And Conciliation (ICRPC) which work in conjunction with the United Nations Institute For Training And Research.

She is a Diplomat Of Peace, being a member of the International Society Of Diplomats, having been recommended and recognised for her contribution in the field of conflict resolution and peacebuilding.

In the UK, she is a member of The Halo Code, an organisation that seeks to raise awareness and cause the government to institute a uniform law that will end discrimination against the protective characteristics of people from ethnic minorities.

She is also a member of the PSJ UK (Peace And Social Justice UK), which is an organisation that seeks global conflict resolution amongst ethnic minorities within countries, with particular focus on the multiple ethnic groups within Nigeria.

Our Mission & Vision

The driving force behind everything we do

Our Mission

Our mission is to:

  • Create clarity for victims of any form of abuse by signalling a clear path for the discovery of self-worth.
  • Advance legal and social reforms that protect vulnerable people.
  • Ensure equitable access to mental-health resources for all age brackets, with particular focus on young children who have the highest propensity for vulnerability and the development of NPD.
  • Educate and empower caregivers, parents and individuals on healthy parenting patterns to prevent the creation of broken adults.
  • Educate and empower communities through evidence-based programs, outreach and advocacy.

Our Vision

Azu-Eri Mental Health Advocacy Foundation has a clear vision; to create a society that not only listens to the silent loud voices of the voiceless, but understands that an admission of mental health struggle(s) is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of indefatigable strength.

"Where the majority remain silent, the minority become the majority".

As an organisation that stands firmly rooted in our stance to support a future generation in its mental health journey, we shall continue to spread awareness for our society to recognises that;

  • Hurt is calmed by healing.
  • Injustice is calmed by justice.
  • Silence is calmed by strength.
  • Self-degradation is calmed by self-worth.

Our History

The journey that led to our foundation

Mental health transcends the surface facets of mental well-being as it exposes a disconnect between "living" and "existing".

In a 2019 ITV documentary, when asked by Tom Bradby about coping with the immense media scrutiny, life as a new mum and being married into a royal dynasty, Megan Markle most downcastly responded;

"I am existing..not living"

AZU-ERI Mental Health Advocacy Foundation recognises that mental health is not only a subtle but steady regression of the struggles of the human mind. We also recognise that the propensity path to dark places is grossly palpable, when left undetected or unaddressed. It is our belief that everyone has the right to "live" and not just to "exist" like Meghan Markle, who would eventually publicly speak out about her suicidal experiences, in a candid interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021.

Statistics held by World Health Organization (WHO) states that more than 720,000 people die by suicide globally every year. This equates to roughly one death by suicide, every 40 seconds.

Whilst one statistic shows that globally, over 1 billion people live with a mental disorder, another variably estimates between 20% and 25% or 40 to 50 million Nigerians suffer from a mental health condition. It is important to note that these figures may not actually reflect accurately, given the stigmatisation surrounding the subject and limited access to mental healthcare services.

With utmost compassion, our mission is to create unquantifiable safe spaces to enable honest dialogues around mental health whilst challenging the social issues that create the recipe for those imbalances. Our campaigns shall examine from the influencing factors of upbringing to the influencing impact of societal conditioning.
